These pictures are so amazingly cute!
gorgeous. nice work!
Shelly, you are inspiring the heck out of me! Keep it up!
Wow, you really captured these two… so impressed! Great job!

I’ve been doing a ton of client work lately (design and websites) and had an itch to get behind a camera and do some fun shots that would really showcase my “style” – So the last time I was in Raleigh, this LOVELY girl agreed to be a model for me for the day! We had a ton of fun at the NC State Fairgrounds. The local flea market is hosted there every weekend. And a big thanks to Rebecca Mill for assisting!

She is beautiful! And your photography is stunning.
(found my way here from Christa Wells’s blog) =)
aww fun!! I never saw that you posted these!! Yay! I had so much fun that day. We definitely need to do it again sometime! <3 ya! When are you coming to Raleigh next?

And you guys have to see the lovely room these two get to sleep in… I’m so jealous. Their sweet mom designed this room just for them! And she’s got a little blog of her own that you guys can check out called Simple Eye Design. Where she features tips on room design, inspiring new interiors from merchants, and a few handy diy’s. Check out this awesome nursery!

Love them, Shelly!! Beautiful pictures of beautiful girls
My younger sister, Malia, went to her first prom as a junior in high school and I told her that I would take some fun pictures of her and her group of friends. They all came to our house with their parents! Crazy! Maybe ya’ll did that, but when I was in high school, the parents definitely didn’t go to other people’s houses for group pictures…. it was so neat to see the families interact and to watch those fun memories take place. It was a blast to take the pics – not to mention, these kids are just AWESOME. They kept me laughing most of the time with all the ways they would pose. I love that, for the most part, kids these days are not afraid of the camera. It makes it so much more fun!
So anyway – I scouted a few fun locations near my house where everyone met up and grabbed these shots before the group left for dinner. From what I hear, the group had a blast! I’d love to hear if there were any prom trends or traditions when you guys went! I didn’t go to my junior prom but I went my senior year and went midnight bowling after. I love bowling.![]()

When I was in high school the parents all came over to one spot and we took pics too. If I can find one, I’ll scan it in for ya so you can see prom 11 years ago group style.
can’t wait to see those pics g!
So I recently went to a conference in Alpharetta, GA called Drive hosted by Andy Stanley’s church. I was asked to go by a church in Charlotte that I’m on a worship leader rotation for. It was really fun – and they recently posted this video that they played at the conference… It made me laugh out loud so many times. It’s perfect… from the papyrus font details that are used in most churches (and every graphic designer loathes) to the awesome band. It was a funny spoof on the fact that we all have some sort of system that we operate through….
“Sunday’s Coming” Movie Trailer from North Point Media on Vimeo.
Here is an overview from the conference – I had a great time with the staff from Ridge Church. Ridge is a strategic partner church of North Point, which basically means they feed Andy’s sermons to their campus and have a local pastor as well.
The conference was wonderful – I was so encouraged by the staff! They have a blast doing what they do… They even set up a trashcan with a hidden speaker and had some of their staff hide and talk through a mic… well… it’s hard to explain but they have a fun video of this too…. watch!

that sunday morning video is perfect!
“…give as you feel lead…but we’re tracking it…”
I was at Drive too. Great times! Loved those videos. Nice site you have here too!
So it’s 11:05 pm and I told you guys yesterday that I would post about my favorite things today. I still have 55 minutes to hold true to that promise. So here it is….
Font E-mails – Specifically Veer and MyFonts
This may sound really nerdy and I’m completely ok with that. But I am subscribed to font e-newsletters through Veer and MyFonts and when their e-mails come into my inbox it is just such a lovely break from all the junk mail I’m sorting through… All the sudden I am greeted by a little spurt of creativity and fun. Creatives need that… It’s wonderful….
Here are some samples of the font beauties that hit my inbox – these are all from MyFonts (Veer likely sells them as well but these layouts are from the MyFonts e-mails)…. (3 fonts are represented below – top to bottom: Memoriam, Calluna , Liza)

Veer has some wonderful content in their e-mails as well and when you sign up as a member on their site you get access to wallpaper lovelies for your computer or iphone… Here are a few of my favorite iphone wallpapers.

So go! Don’t be afraid to be a nerd – nerds are super-inspiring
. LOVE WHAT YOU DO!
I’d love to hear about what you do and sites that inspire you!

Well…I love these fonts. Script fonts are my fav. I’m sending this to Mom too so she can check them out. Way to go on keeping your “blog word”! I must admit, Pottery Barn’s still my favorite inspiration for decor, as most of their stuff now is coastal of course. And I’m in love with Loft’s spring stuff. Not too creative this time, just sticking to the staples. Love you!
this is a super cool site! I added Veer to my bookmark list!
Love, love, LOVE both of these! I used to cut out my favorite fonts from their mags and paste them around the room or in my journals. Yep. I said it. (#nerd)
You are not a nerd to like fonts. I love ‘em. And hey, anyone online is nerdy enough to appreciate better design, right?

So I have a bunch of projects in the works… I redesigned a site for Christa Wells and set up her store where she’ll sell her wonderful cds. She is an AMAZING songwriter. Her most recently “known” song was made popular by Natalie Grant. It’s a beautiful song called “Held”. If you haven’t heard it, I would highly recommend you download it now. It’s a beautiful song about heartbreak and loss and knowing the embrace of God in the midst. Christa has a tremendous way of sharing her thoughts and encouraging those who she comes into contact with. She has been an inspiration to me in so many ways as I’ve watched her love her family and share her music. Please go read her blog. You won’t regret it.
I also designed a shirt for Christa that will be printed soon – I’ll post some pictures as soon as I get some shirts and a random person to model them for me.
Tomorrow I am going to do a “favorite things” post, and share a few of my favorite things with you readers. I haven’t decided on a number of items to share yet. You’ll just have to wait and see! So come back tomorrow and let me know what you think!

Wow Shelly! That looks GREAT!
hey friends! So I went to my blog today and realized it’s been over a month since I’ve posted anything! AH! Sorry! I thought surely all my readers would have disappeared and given up on waiting for another post. Well, I have some awesome readers! I went to my statcounter account to see how much my numbers had dropped and was floored by the map of recent visitors – I’ve never been read in so many other countries! You guys are awesome and I hope this keeps spreading and maybe together we really can change the world! : )

Malia, my beautiful sister, is a junior in high school! She’s a very busy girl with all her school work and extra stuff… sports/tutoring/friends la la la – and I travel a lot, so it was awesome when we had a snow day a while back. She didn’t have any plans so we decided to try some fun snow shots. Hope you enjoy this bit of chill on such a hot day.

There is a super-sweet girl I’ve known now for a while – I first met her when she was in high school, in a local Raleigh band called Chasing Salem. Nancy Ray. Well…she’s all grown up now and has a wonderful husband (Will Ray, who was in the band with her) and a new photography business! She’s an awesome photographer and I felt privileged when she asked if I would design her logo. AWESOME! I couldn’t wait to start. So I sent her some questions to find out a bit more of what defines her as a person and an artist to try to encompass that into her logo if at all possible.
I absolutely LOVED her answers and where it led the logo design….so to give you a glimpse into how wonderful Nancy is, I want to share the answers she sent me — I’ll just cross my fingers and hope she won’t mind. : )
my hobbies: cooking, hiking, blogging, decorating
collections: anything to do with birds – nests, cages, little statues; i also have a few old cameras, & candles
passionate about: God’s Word, photography, organization
,
favorite place: the roof of my old house in the spring. i would climb out my bedroom window, and there was a giant tree with big pink blossoms that would create a shelter for me. it was beautiful!
my 5 favorite material things: the Bible will gave me on our wedding day, my engagement ring & wedding band, my camera & lenses, my old journals, my bed! (i think that’s more than just 5 things, haha sorry)
what i’m known for: being a “taskmaster!” – being the planner for almost everything
, super-organized, being silly, drinking tons of coffee, obsessing over real simple & pottery barn mags, bringing my camera everywhere
See what I mean?! She’s just awesome…. Go visit her website and blog. You’ll be one of her faithful readers soon enough.
Here are the final logos I designed for her. Hope you guys like it as much as we did!
